Jackson was all set to join Bayern.
It looks like Nicolas Jackson will not join Bayern Munich on a season-long loan, according to a new report, after Chelsea appeared to pull the plug on a deal that was set to make football history.
Earlier today, it was widely reported that Jackson would join the Bundesliga champions in a world record loan deal worth up to £69.2 million.
It was said Chelsea would receive an initial £13 million loan fee for the striker. Then, if Bayern decided to exercise their option to make the move permanent next summer, the Blues would have received a further £56.2 million.
If everything had gone to plan, Jackson would've signed a five-year deal at the Allianz.
But on Saturday afternoon, the deal collapsed after Liam Delap suffered a hamstring injury in Chelsea's Premier League clash against Fulham.
Chelsea have already informed Bayern that they will not proceed with the move and have asked Jackson to return to London, as per The Athletic.
As seen in the footage above, Jackson travelled to Germany on Saturday for a medical and was even pictured arriving at Munich airport ahead of the proposed deal.
Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg posted footage of Jackson's arrival alongside the caption: "Medical will be completed shortly. Signing of his contract after that."
He added: "€15m loan deal between FC Bayern and Chelsea is done – as revealed this morning."
But according to the ever-reliable David Ornstein, the deal is now off after Enzo Maresca said on Saturday that he expected Delap to be sidelined for up to eight weeks.
