Nicolas Jackson to Bayern transfer confusion - Chelsea U-turn and medical twist

Nicolas Jackson is set to stay at Chelsea and not move to Bayern Munich in the closing stages of the transfer window, according to reports.

The striker was set to leave the Blues and move to the German champions in a world-record loan worth £13million. It was due to include a £56.2m permanent option at the end of the season.

The 24-year-old was a key part of Maresca's team last season, scoring 13 goals in 37 appearances but has lost his place completely over the summer.

Jackson has lost his place in Enzo Maresca's team over the summer after the purchases of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap. However, Delap picked up an injury in Saturday's 2-0 win over Fulham.

The summer signing sustained a hamstring problem in the first-half and was replaced by Tyrique George. Maresca revealed at full-time that he expected the England Under-21 international to be sidelined for a number of weeks.

Speaking after the match, Maresca said: "Injury doesn't look good. He was full speed, hamstring, so that requires weeks. I've just come here for the press conference, we will see if we take any decision."

Now, The Athletic has reported that Chelsea have informed Bayern that will be pulling the plug on the loan move for Jackson and have asked the forward to return to London.

Reports in Germany, via Florian Plettenberg, though, seem to claim otherwise with Jackson arriving at Munich airport. The Sky Sports Germany journalist has suggested that the deal remains on and the contract will be signed after his medical.

Gianluca Di Marzio claims Jackson 'would like to complete the transfer but the Blues do not seem intent on signing the documents for the transfer after Delap's injury'.

Sacha Tavolieri goes even further, suggesting Bayern have already moved on and will now target RB Leipzig forward Lois Openda instead.

The Press Association reports the 24-year-old is 'furious' with the club’s U-turn.
