Wolves couldn’t manage their first points of the season as they fell to a tough 3-2 loss against David Moyes’ Everton side.
The game felt like it was being played in the shadow of the Jorgen Strand Larsen transfer saga, with the Norwegian looking on from the stands, but it ended up being a cracking match.

Wolves fought admirably, but ultimately couldn’t get the third goal they were hunting for.
It’s another loss on the season, but the performance gives some encouragement.
Wolves player ratings vs Everton
Jose Sa – 6
Sa could do nothing for the first goal, where Everton got bodies in the box to overpower the Wolves defence.
The next two were more of the same. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall left no room for error, whacking the third in off the crossbar.
Jackson Tchatchoua – 6
Tchatchoua’s blistering pace will be a huge asset for Vitor Pereira this season, judging by his first couple of outings.
Defensively, though, he was part of the back line that conceded three, so it’s hard to be all positive. There were some stray touches and errant passes that suggest he’s not the finished article.
MORE WOLVES STORIES
Santiago Bueno – 6
Santi Bueno didn’t make any big mistakes, but he was complicit in Wolves’ shakiness at the back.
Emmanuel Agbadou – 5
Another game, another error leading to a goal for Agbadou.
The Ivorian looked solid before the third goal, spraying balls up the pitch in an attempt to get Wolves on the front foot. But that’s not what fans will remember about this performance.
Toti Gomes – 5
Toti made his return from suspension, but didn’t do much of note. He looked concerningly slow in possession, dwelling on the ball at times.
Hugo Bueno – 7
Bueno was at fault for the first goal, leaving Jack Grealish free at the back post to nod the ball across to Beto for the finish.
But the Spaniard is making his case for a starting berth, looking like one of the more promising creative outlets for the Old Gold. And he should have had a penalty too.
Hopefully the knock that took him out of the game is nothing serious.
Andre – 5
You might not have noticed Andre on the pitch today.
It was an uncharacteristically quiet game for the Brazilian, who might still be dwelling on Pereira’s criticisms during the week.

Joao Gomes – 7
Gomes was at his usual high standard for most of this game, showing toughness out of possession, and driving Wolves on with the ball at his feet.
As harsh as it is to say, he looks like a player stuck at a level beneath his ability.
Marshall Munetsi – 6
Munetsi was better today than we have seen so far this season, looking sharp and making dangerous runs in behind the Everton defence.
He did well on his assist to Hwang Hee-chan, but as the game wore on, his impact was felt less and less.
Jhon Arias – 6
Arias had another quiet game today at Molineux.
The attacking form he showed in the Club World Cup this summer has not yet returned in a Wolves shirt, but no one can deny his willingness on the defensive side of the ball.
Hwang Hee-chan – 7
There were concerns over Jorgen Strand Larsen’s absence, but Hwang got his goal. It came during a quiet first half for the Korean, but he was opportunistic in snatching the one chance that came his way.

Substitutes
Rodrigo Gomes – 8
Gomes continued his goalscoring form, this time from the bench.
He had no right to get on the end of Moller Wolfe’s cross, but it’s the work rate Wolves fans know and love from the young Portuguese wing-back.
He had the chance to emerge as the hero with a 94th-minute chance, but he dragged it wide.
Jean Ricner-Bellegarde – 6
Bellegarde offered energy off the bench, helping Wolves stay within distance.
Fer Lopez – 8
The Spaniard was possibly Wolves’ most impressive performer in the 30 minutes he had on the pitch.
He brought confidence and energy into the attack, not afraid to drive with the ball and look for an opportunity.
David Moller Wolfe – 6
Moller Wolfe came on for the injured Bueno, and made his mark on the game.
His assist for Gomes looked like a ball into nothingness, but it found his fellow wing-back to bring Wolves back into the tie.
Sasa Kalajdzic – 6
The Austrian offered a long-ball outlet as Wolves pushed for an equaliser, but couldn’t make an impact.
