Liverpool have made an offer to Crystal Palace for English defender Marc Guehi and he is open to joining Arne Slot's side.
David Ornstein of The Athletic reports that the Reds have submitted an official bid worth a flat £35m for Guehi, who has been a stalwart at Selhurst Park. The England international is the defending Premier League champions' top defensive target in the closing stages of the transfer window.
Guehi is at the top of Slot's wishlist amid an unconvincing start to the season from Ibrahima Konate. The Frenchman's contract situation is of interest as he has a year left on his current deal and is on Real Madrid's radar.
Liverpool Make Bid For Marc Guehi
Marc Guehi in action for Crystal Palace
Guehi has been a regular in Oliver Glasner's XI at the start of the season despite speculation over a potential Anfield switch. He captained the Eagles to a Community Shield win over the Merseyside giants.
The 25-year-old hasn't pushed to leave Palace but would be keen on making the move should his South London club reach an agreement with Liverpool. He has a year left on his contract so the Eagles risk losing him on a free next summer should they not sell before Monday's (September 1) deadline.
