There is currently a debate about Kyrie Irving and Damian Lillard throughout the NBA world.
People are judging the two stars and weighing who has done better during their many years in the league.
Now, Kendrick Perkins is adding his two cents and stating that Irving was never “Batman” for his team, while Lillard was for nearly all his career.
When Irving did attempt to play the role of Batman, his team didn’t thrive and was in bad shape until LeBron James showed up.
“Kyrie was just never a Batman on none of his teams,” Perkins said. “And that’s not a knock to him, Dame was. Kyrie wasn’t a Batman on none of his teams, right? And when he was a Batman, Cleveland was drafting, had the no. 1 pick every single year! Until Bron got there.”
There is truth to the fact that the Cleveland Cavaliers weren’t doing well until James came back to the team.
They loved what Irving was doing, and they were happy to pick him in the draft, but he wasn’t making the sort of difference they needed.
As for Lillard, he was always the clear leader of his Portland Trail Blazers.
That team suffered from its own set of problems, but Lillard was front and center for it all and was proud and ready to take on his role guiding the squad.
This is a conversation that will continue for the next few weeks.
Irving and Lillard are two of the most celebrated guards in the NBA, and they have accomplished a ton.
But even with all their accomplishments, this debate isn’t going anywhere.
