Captain Fantastic: Bruno saves Amorim as Man United secure last-gasp win over Burnley

Bruno Fernandes scored a 97th-minute winner as Manchester United recorded a 3-2 victory over Burnley in Saturday afternoon's Premier League contest at Old Trafford.

Burnley twice answered back in Manchester, with Lyle Foster making it 1-1 after a Josh Cullen own goal had sent the Red Devils ahead, before Jaidon Anthony registered after Bryan Mbeumo made it 2-1 to the hosts.

However, there was to be late drama, with Fernandes netting a penalty in the seventh minute of added time at the end of the 90 to secure a valuable three points for under-pressure head coach Ruben Amorim.

Man United's first win of the season has moved them up into ninth spot in the Premier League table, with the 20-time English champions boasting four points from their opening three matches.

Meanwhile, Burnley sit 11th, with the Clarets picking up three points from their first three games.

SPORTS MOLE'S VERDICT

And breathe.

Man United had to win this match. Ruben Amorim had to win this match.

The fall-out would have been incredible had the Red Devils been unable to claim all three points, as they twice led Burnley and should have been out of sight in the first period after some excellent football.

Once again, their goalkeeping issues were on full display, with Altay Bayindir, who came back in for Andre Onana, at fault for Burnley's second, and it did appear that the Clarets had done enough to secure all three points.

Man United refused to accept that they would not claim their first win of the season, though, and Fernandes scored a pressure penalty in stoppage time to spark incredible scenes inside Old Trafford.

Amorim's position at the helm would have been in severe doubt had the Red Devils dropped points here, but suddenly things are looking up for the English giants, with four points from three matches a solid return.

There is still a lot of work to do, and Man United must sign a new goalkeeper before the end of the transfer window, but finally some happiness has been provided to their suffering supporters.
