Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim's struggling side earned a dramatic late win against newly-promoted Burnley at Old Trafford.

The beleaguered Portuguese boss was under pressure after a winless start to the Premier League season and a humiliating Carabao Cup exit at the hands of League Two outfit Grimsby Town on Wednesday, which had heaped pressure on him and his team.

An own goal from Clarets captain Josh Cullen gave United the lead in the first-half of their encounter on Saturday afternoon. And when Burnley equalised through Lyle Foster not long after the hour mark, Bryan Mbuemo almost immediately scored at the other end to regain the advantage.

However, United couldn't hold on to their lead and, after Burnley had another goal for Foster disallowed for offside, a shambolic mix-up at the back saw Jaidon Anthony capitalise to make it 2-2. Yet the Red Devils pushed for a winner and after Anthony fouled Amad in the box deep into injury time, Bruno Fernandes saved the day and made it 3-2 from the spot.

Here are the player ratings from the match at Old Trafford, reports the Manchester Evening News.

First XI

Altay Bayindir

Brought back into the team and largely untested in the first half. However, he fumbled a shot from a corner, allowing Jaidon Anthony to level the score at 2-2, which could have cost his side two points, but for the late drama. 4.

Leny Yoro

As smooth on the ball as the pitch in the wet conditions, no doubt aided by his midweek rest. Failed to keep close tabs on Lyle Foster for the equaliser. 6.

Matthijs De Ligt

Quickly closed down Hannibal Mejbri to prevent a clear shot at goal. Like his fellow centre-backs, left Foster unmarked. 6.

Luke Shaw

The other defender not bearing the scars from the Grimsby Town debacle, Shaw was proactive and often drifted wide to double up as a left-back. 6.

Amad Diallo

A significant improvement on his hesitant midweek performance. Consistently took on Burnley and nearly scored from a corner. Lost some steam after the break but won the penalty. 7.

Casemiro

His header off the crossbar bounced in off Cullen to put United ahead. A noticeable upgrade on Manuel Ugarte. Substituted for Benjamin Sesko late on. 6.

Bruno Fernandes

Frequently involved and set up Amad for a volley at goal from a first-half corner. Booked for an unnecessary sliding tackle as frustration got the better of him. But then scored the vital injury-time penalty. 7.

Diogo Dalot

Moved to the left wing at the expense of the benched Patrick Dorgu and his movement infield gave United another option. Did well for Bryan Mbeumo's goal. 6.

Bryan Mbeumo

His first touch is as delicate as Dimitar Berbatov's used to be, and Mbeumo nearly scored his first goal at Old Trafford before putting United 2-1 ahead. 8.

Mason Mount

The best player on the pitch in the first half and so athletic he outpaced Kyle Walker. Unfortunately, for the third August in a row, he was injured and had to be substituted at half-time. 7.

Matheus Cunha

He was forced off in the first half with a hamstring injury after starting brightly as the de facto centre forward in United's strikerless system. 6.

Substitutes

Joshua Zirkzee

He couldn't take a good opportunity before half-time and played a significant role in Mbeumo's goal. 6.

Kobbie Mainoo

It's audacious of him to want to leave when he can't even get into the worst United team in 51 years. He was lacklustre. 5.

Benjamin Sesko

He came close with a header but should have done better. 6.

Noussair Mazraoui

He made a return from injury. 6.
