Erling Haaland compares Jack Grealish to ‘unique’ player after his Everton heroics today

Manchester City star Erling Haaland has praised Jack Grealish for his latest heroics in an Everton shirt.

Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish were close at Manchester City and the Norway international has been following his ex-colleague’s Everton efforts with great interest.

Grealish slipped down the pecking order at City and Pep Guardiola’s decision not to take him to the Club World Cup effectively ended his time at the Etihad Stadium.

However, Grealish has hit the ground running at Everton, with four assists in his opening three Premier League games, and Haaland is absolutely buzzing.

Erling Haaland hails ‘Jack De Bruyne’

Grealish registered two assists on his first start for Everton, helping David Moyes’ side run out 2-0 winners over Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 29-year-old then repeated the feat in Saturday’s Premier League trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers, his second assist brace helping Everton win 3-2 at Molineux.

Haaland took to Snapchat stories with a picture of himself smiling along with a caption which compared Grealish to City legend Kevin De Bruyne.

“Jack De Bruyne does it again for Everton,” wrote Haaland.

De Bruyne was a “unique” player for City, in Pep Guardiola’s words, and Haaland clearly thinks just as highly of Grealish.

City offloaded both De Bruyne and Grealish this summer, and not all fans were happy with either decision.

Erling Haaland’s relationship with Jack Grealish

Haaland and Grealish formed a close bond during their time at City, often sitting together when travelling for away matches by coach or plane.

When City flew to the United States for the Club World Cup, Haaland posted a selfie next to an empty seat, alongside a crying cat face emoji and the caption “Jack Grealish where are you.”

Back in 2023, Grealish said of Haaland, as per the Manchester Evening News: “We’ve got a great relationship.

“We come into training a lot together, we live in the same building, I’ve assisted him a few times.

“When you have a relationship like that off the pitch, on the pitch it makes it that much easier.”
