Player Ratings: Manchester United 3-2 Burnley FC

Ratings are in after Manchester United’s first league win of the season at Old Trafford against Burnley FC.

Can’t keep going into games like this. Poor on the second goal, but it’s the anxiety around every set-piece and throw-in that’s more concerning. This position is reflective of the side’s fragility.

Nowhere in the build-up to Burnley’s first goal but did well for the assist. Still lacks presence of mind when it’s most necessary. Things like concentration are still a big problem in his game and something most of the players in the side struggle with.

Got outmuscled a bit today and didn’t have the best clearance in the build-up to the second goal.

Been tidy in most of the games at the start of this season but isn’t enough of a physical specimen to be the imposing figure in central defence that the side ultimately requires. Also got moved around with the first goal.

Similar to De Ligt in that he’s not been troubled for the most part. Hopefully see more marauding runs from the left in the future.

Was a threat all game but should’ve scored in the first half. Most significantly, he won the crucial penalty.

Was involved in the first goal. Kept it simple today.

Had some moments but not really influential. Did well to score the winning penalty under immense pressure.

Scored his first league goal for the Reds and was a threat all game.

Has started the season well. Does a job knitting one-touch moves.

Hopefully nothing serious.

Looked quite sharp. Some of the link-up play and the lay-offs were excellent.

The end-to-end nature in the second half didn’t help, and he was unfortunate with the second goal.

Has made a nervy start to his career, but finally showed some of what he can offer to this side.

Massive win for the manager. It won’t get any easier, but he can have a breather for two weeks.
