Chelsea have officially completed the signing of Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho.

The Argentine international's Old Trafford nightmare has come to an end, three months after bluntly being told by Ruben Amorim that he needs to find himself a new club.

Chelsea have finally been able to confirm that they have snapped up Garnacho after weeks of tough discussions with Man Utd over a fee. Heading into the summer, the Red Devils had initially demanded up to €80 million for the wonderkid.

However, this was always a hugely fanciful asking price given that Amorim had shunned the 21-year-old so publicly, and the winger's price progressively dropped as the weeks went on.

Talks entered a decisive phase when Man Utd lowered their demands to north of €50m, while Chelsea were prepared to pay around €40m. This small gap was ultimately bridged this week, with the two clubs settling on a €46m fee with a 10 per cent sell-on clause.

Chelsea sign Garnacho

Chelsea have now announced the arrival of Garnacho, with the tricky attacker signing a long-term contract at Stamford Bridge. The Argentine is expected to battle with fellow summer recruit Jamie Gittens for the starting spot on the left wing.

Garnacho's transfer has officially pushed academy graduate Tyrique George to the fringes of Enzo Maresca's squad, and the 19-year-old is fully expected to depart before the 1 September deadline. Roma, Bayern and several other clubs have expressed an interest.

Meanwhile, Garnacho has become the Blues' ninth signing of the current window, and he is unlikely to be their last. There is interest in Barcelona star Fermin Lopez, but this move appears unrealistic.

Instead, Chelsea are now set to sign Brighton attacker Facundo Buonanotte on a straight loan deal with no purchase option or obligation after missing out on Xavi Simons to Tottenham.
