Wolves player ratings after a 2-0 home defeat against Everton

Wolves fell to a third consecutive defeat in the Premier League as Everton edged past the hosts at Molineux to win 3-2. Following a promising mid-week victory in the cup against West Ham, Wolves hoped to build momentum to gain their first points of the season. A competitive 90 minutes were ultimately decided by the individual brilliance of Everton trio N’diaye, Grealish and Dewsbury Hall, with Beto also netting. Wolves however did present opportunities of their own. Rodrigo Gomes and Hwang Hee Chan both added to the scoreline, but it was not meant to be for Wolves in the pouring rain.

**Sa: 4/10** – It was a fairly anonymous performance from the experienced goalkeeper, who could do little to prevent Wolves’ defensive woes. While the defence were left with plenty to do in their own half, the keeper was largely uninvolved with play.

**Agbadou: 3/10** – Off the back of a much improved performance on Tuesday night, the defender was unable to recapture this glory here. Aside from a few powerful clearances, some sloppy passing and unfocused defending led to numerous goals and scoring opportunities for the visitors.

**Toti: 3/10** – Much like Agbadou, multiple instances of indecisive positioning and plenty of wayward tackles left space for Everton to threaten the Wolves goal.

**S. Bueno: 6/10** – The best of the back three, the Everton front line was consistently challenged by the presence of Bueno at the back. A crucial last minute block on N’diaye was the pick of the bunch for him, as it kept Wolves in the game early in the first half.

**H. Bueno: 7/10** – A standout performer during Wolves outing with West Ham, Bueno was able to replicate his brilliant ball carrying and determined defensive duties. The most consistent player for the hosts, Bueno’s passionate and intelligent defending was matched by some moments of excellence to keep possession of the ball and push Wolves forwards.

**Tchatchoua: 4.5/10** – The quickest player in the Wolves squad, Jackson Tchatchoua’s home league debut was marked with an uninspired performance. Despite splitting the Everton defence and posing a challenge for Jordan Pickford, he was unable to keep an excellent Jack Greglish quiet as he was bested by the former Manchester City winger,

**J. Gomes: 6.5/10** – Having been left out of the starting 11 during the week, Gomes was keen to hit the ground running for Wolves in the midfield. A passionate slide tackle on James Garner, which ignited a spark in the team and supporters, was the standout moment for the Brazilian. A steady influence on the team, it has to be doubtful he will miss much more football for Wolves this campaign.

**Andre: 5/10** – Returning to the side after being benched away at Bournemouth, it was an uncharacteristically sloppy performance from the Brazilian at Molineux. A flurry of Everton pressing allowed Andre to be dispossessed in the midfield, before the visitors slammed home from 6 yards to take the lead. Despite some fantastic recoveries of the ball in the second half, it was a performance to forget for Wolves number 7.

**Marshall Munetsi: 6/10** – An ever present in Vitor Pereira’s squad, Munetsi hit the ground running at Molineux with a thumping cross to Hwang to level the score. A variety of other chances were bestowed upon the Zimbabwe international, who couldn’t quite tuck them away amidst high pressure.

**Hwang Hee Chan: 6.5/10** – Injury to Newcastle linked front man Jorgen Strand Larsen allowed the South Korean international to start his first Premier League game of the season. Alongside some piercing runs behind the Evertonian defence, Hwang got on the end of an excellent ball to stab his side level.

**Jhon Arias: 5/10** – A much anticipated home league debut for the Club World Cup starlet, he was kept quiet by a sturdy Everton backline. A clear willingness to win the ball was not enough to see the forward replicate his summer form in this game however.

**Rodrigo Gomes: 7/10** – The young fan favourite continued his run of goal scoring form, nodding in a second late goal for Wolves following a surging forward run. A second bright performance from the winger in a week will surely see him knock on the door for more minutes this season.

**Fer Lopez: 7/10** – The Spaniard shone after coming off the bench for Wolves, injecting much needed forward energy to a dejected Wolves team. Everton struggled to take possession from him, as an excellent over the top ball was the catalyst for a controversial penalty decision.

**Jean-Ricner Bellegarde: 5/10** – After a less than stellar performance against West Ham, Jean-Ricner Bellegarde lacked the minutes required to make a big impact in the game. Despite this, the midfielder made a few surging runs beyond Dewsbury-Hall to ramp up the home support.

**Davide Moller Wolfe: 6/10** – Replacing an excellent Hugo Bueno, Wolfe similarly made a positive impact on the Wolves team, firing in an excellent low cross for Rodrigo Gomes to convert in the six  yard box.

**Sasa Kalajdzic: 5/10** – The Austrian striker made his first Premier League appearance in over a year, replacing Hwang Hee Chan to a large reception from the Wolves faithful. A commanding presence in the box, Sasa provided a viable option for the Wolves wingbacks to aim for in the final stages of the game.
