The summer transfer window continues to get trickier for Bayern Munich. After starting the day with an agreement with Chelsea for Nicolas Jackson, they have seen the deal collapse due to injury for Liam Delap in the midday clash against Fulham.
According to The Athletic, Chelsea have informed Bayern that they will not be going ahead with the transfer of Nicolas Jackson. The London-based club has made this decision after Delap came off in the first half against Fulham due to a hamstring injury.
Jackson is currently in Munich to complete his medical. The Senegalese forward doesn’t want to go back to London, but Chelsea are well within their rights to cancel the deal. Max Eberl confirmed that Bayern will respond to Chelsea’s decision after the game against Augsburg. Meanwhile, Jackson’s agents are likely to make one last push to salvage the transfer.
Earlier on Saturday, Bayern had agreed a loan deal for Jackson with an option to buy. The Bavarian club was set to give a hefty loan fee of €15 million. Bayern had an option to sign him permanently next summer for €65 million. Rekordmeister have agreed terms of a long-term contract with the forward in case they decide to sign him permanently in 2026
This is the second time Bayern Munich have suffered disappointment in signing a Premier League player from a London-based club in the last three years. They had agreed terms for Joao Palhinha in 2023 only to see a deal fall through at the last moment since Fulham couldn't get a last minute replacement for the Portuguese midfielder.
Jackson's agent Diomansy Kamara reposted a story saying: 'We're not going back'

Bayern will have to explore other options in attack
It doesn't look like Chelsea will change their decision. They could be persuaded by offering a permanent deal, but Bayern have no plans to sign a forward on a permanent deal. The board members have categorically said that further signings will only arrive on loan arrangements.
In such a scenario, Bayern have to quickly turn their attention to other options. It has been a car crash of a summer transfer window for Die Roten as they have missed out on so many players to strengthen the attack. With players like Harry Kane insisting that the squad is too small, the onus is on the club chiefs to get at least one forward before the end of transfer window. As things stand, there is next to no chance of Rekordmeister getting two deals done.
