Chelsea have announced the signing of Alejandro Garnacho this afternoon, following the conclusion of our 2-0 win against Fulham at Stamford Bridge, where the 21-year-old was already in attendance. Strangely, Chelsea have only confirmed that Garnacho has signed a “long-term” deal, said to be for seven years. The deal’s reportedly worth around £40m, with Manchester United retaining a 10 per cent sell-on clause.
Madrid-born Garnacho, who joined United’s academy at age 16 from Atlético Madrid, was declared persona non grata up in Manchester this year, and he’s clearly delighted to be signing for the Blues.
“It’s an incredible moment for my family and I to join this great club. I can’t wait to get started. I watched the Club World Cup and to join the world champions is special – we’re the best team in the world! It’s amazing to be here and I’m very happy.“

Despite his young age (he turned 21 just last month), Garnacho has plenty of senior professional experience, with nearly 100 Premier League appearances to his name already. That probably factored into our decision to bring him in, outweighing any of the narratives about his attitude or whatever.
Welcome, Alejandro! Let’s win some things!
