Breaking: Packers’ Superstar Shockingly Changes Jersey Number Before Start Of 2025 Season

The Green Bay Packers are officially heading into the 2025 season with Super Bowl aspirations. Their trade for pass rusher Micah Parsons let the team know that their GM is in a “win now” mode. Parsons by himself puts the defense on a completely different level.

However, it was another star that made headlines when he decided to change his jersey number after Parsons picked his.

A big-name Packers player is switching jersey number in what is definitely the busiest weeks of the year to date:

Rookie wideout Matthew Golden, who was the Packers’ first-round selection in Titletown’s Turn to host the NFL Draft, was reportedly going to wear No. 81 at first; however, he chose to wear 22.

Now, after the Packers acquired superstar pass-rusher Micah Parsons from the Cowboys, who announced during his press conference on Friday that he would wear Curly Lambeau’s No. 1, Golden is making another switch.

The Packers posted on social media that Golden is now switching to the No. 0. Two additional Packers players are obtaining new numbers as well.

As of now, no specific reason has been given; however, Golden becomes the first Packer in history to wear the No. 0, which was recently re-entered into the NFL’s rulebook as an available choice.

It remains unknown whether people who purchased a No. 22 Golden jersey will be able to trade theirs in for the new number. In 2023, Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith changed to No. 0, and he offered fans an opportunity to switch out their jerseys with his former number to the new one.
