Tottenham Hotspur fell at home to Bournemouth and the N17 faithful made themselves heard
Tottenham Hotspur are surely having a roller-coaster of a start to the 2025-26 season. Spurs started the new season with an encouraging performance against one of the most in-form teams in Europe, Paris Saint-Germain, but were defeated on penalties in the UEFA Super Cup.
After that, they had an excellent start to the Premier League, winning first against Burnley with a 3-0 scoreline, before beating one of the very top teams in England, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, 2-0.
Today, Thomas Frank’s side played its third game in the league, but saw their winning momentum from these first two games lose steam as they lost to Bournemouth 0-1. The North London side was unable to turn around the early lead taken by the hosts, as Evanilson scored the only goal of the game 5 minutes into the match.
One can understand that the expectations of the fans for this game were quite high, especially after seeing their team win the first two games of the league. These fans were quick to express their frustration with the team’s performance during the match, as they booed the players, both at half-time and at full-time.

Thomas Frank reacts after fans boo the team
As per a report from football.london, Thomas Frank also addressed this situation as he faced the press following this loss. In this regard, the Danish tactician said:
“I prefer them not to boo but I understand it was not a good performance today. They have high expectations which I understand. The players put their heart out there but didn’t hit our football levels today.”
There is no doubt that this was quite an underwhelming result for Spurs. However, one could have expected some more patience from the fans, especially after the two excellent performances the team has put in the first two games of the league season.
Hopefully, Thomas Frank will be able to turn around the mood after the upcoming international break, when his team will be paying a visit to the London Stadium for the match against West Ham United. But for now, today’s loss only goes on to show how hard competing for the Premier League title is going to be for Tottenham, and Frank will have a lot of work to do to prove his credentials as a top-level manager.
