Victor Anichebe has praised Jack Grealish’s impact at Everton following the midfielder’s superb display against Wolves.

Everton beat Wolves 3-2 on Saturday, with the England international bagging two assists for Beto and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s goals.

Erling Haaland was among those to commend Grealish, who has transformed David Moyes’ side since his arrival from Manchester City.

Darren Bent said Grealish was “head and shoulders” the best player against Wolves, with the 29-year-old continuing to stake his claim for a return to Thomas Tuchel’s England squad.

The three points meant the Toffees have won consecutive Premier League games, after Everton beat Brighton 2-0 last week.

Victor Anichebe likens Jack Grealish impact to Steven Pienaar

Grealish has already emerged as a fan favourite at Everton, and Saturday’s game against Wolves further underlined the impact the midfielder is having for Moyes’ side.

The former Aston Villa man was everywhere for the Toffees, constantly winning fouls and completing mazy dribbles.

Former Everton striker Anichebe took to Instagram on 30 August to praise Grealish, writing: “Reminds me of when Steven Pienaar came to Everton.

“He was a different level to the rest of the group and ultimately raised the level. JG is a top, top player.”

Pienaar initially joined Everton from Borussia Dortmund in 2007 and would go on to make 229 appearances for the Toffees from the left of midfield, scoring 26 goals and providing 45 assists.

The South Africa international’s performances earnt him Everton’s player of the season award for the 2009/10 season, and would see him signed by Tottenham in 2011.

He would later return, and is fondly remembered for his impact at Goodison Park.

Jack Grealish can write himself into history at the Hill Dickinson Stadium

For a club as historic as Everton, it takes a lot to be considered among legends such as the iconic Dixie Dean.

But if Grealish can continue to dazzle, he may well establish himself among the icons of the new home of the Toffees, the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

It is early days to be discussing how Everton will keep a hold of the midfielder, but they do hold an option to buy in the loan deal agreed with Manchester City.
