Newcastle United are still looking to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers' Jorgen Strand Larsen despite failing with two bids for the Norweigan striker.
Reputable journalist Jan Aage Fjortoft reports that the Magpies are still keen on Larsen who missed his side's encounter with Everton on Saturday. He has been on Eddie Howe's radar this summer amid Alexander Isak pushing to leave St James' Park and join Liverpool.
Larsen joined Wolves permanently in July after initially arriving on loan from Celta Vigo last season. He was a real asset for Vitor Pereira last season, posting 14 goals in the Premier League.

Newcastle have been busy in the latter stages of the transfer window and swooped for a new striker in Nick Woltemade who has become the club's record signing in a £69m deal. The German might not be the only attacking arrival before clock runs out on deadline day on Monday.
Fjortoft has revealed that the Tyneside giants are still chasing Larsen's signature because they don't view Woltemade as a proper centre-forward. He wrote:
"I’ve been told that Newcastle are still interested in the Wolves striker. Since Woltemade isn’t your typical number nine, Strand Larsen remains a strong candidate. However, Jørgen Strand Larsen will miss the match against Everton."
Vitor Pereira excused Larsen's absence from the Everton game as a head injury but the Norway international is interested in joining Howe's Magpies. Wolves have turned down offers of up to £55m so far and have been insistent on not selling another attacker after Matheus Cunha joined Manchester United in June.
That stance may have changed though given the club have agreed a deal to sign Genk forward Tolu Arokodare. The Nigerian is undergoing a medical ahead of a £23m switch to Molineux.
Newcastle have spent all summer trying to sign a suitable Isak replacement which has largely prevented the Swede from leaving. They missed out on top targets such as Benjamin Sesko and Joao Pedro but Larsen does appear enticed on a move to St James' Park.
