3 Jaguars bounce-back candidates who will make a big impact in 2025

As the Jacksonville Jaguars prepare to begin the 2025 season, the team is focused on proving they are playoff contenders again. Too often, the Jaguars are underestimated, and this season appears to be no different. Most analysts seem ready to give name the Houston Texans AFC South champions already, before the season has even started.

Yet the Jaguars are primed to prove everyone wrong. Owner Shad Khan brought on new staff to lead the team - head coach Liam Coen, offensive coordinator Grant Udinski, defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile, and general manager James Gladstone - and that alone is expected to make a huge difference.

Additionally, there were some great signings in the offseason and the draft, most notably Travis Hunter, who is set to make NFL history. But there are also some key veterans set to have a great season, too.

Jaguars primed for a comeback season in 2025

While the Jaguars roster has had plenty of talented players in recent years, some of them have regressed or been held back lately - and this year, they have everything they need to bounce back in 2025.

Trevor Lawrence

The #1 person who belongs on this list is quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who should have had a better career before now. Unfortunately, he's been stuck in a string of terrible situations in Jacksonville, preventing him from reaching his full potential.

Could this year be the one that Lawrence finally reaches elite status? He's been putting in the work this offseason, he's healthy, and - finally - he has a good system around him for the first time. Head coach Liam Coen is expected to have a good influence on him, too. Everything seems to finally be aligning for him, which is a very good sign for how he could perform this year.

Travis Etienne

Etienne was overshadowed last year by Tank Bigsby, and he had some struggles, too, failing to reach 1,000 yards despite having done so the previous two seasons. But - again - there are good reasons to be optimistic that fans will see him back to form in 2025.

Heading into the season, Etienne is healthy, and like Lawrence, should benefit from Coen and Udinski. He's been working with the first-team offense through the offseason, which is a sign of how the coaching staff views him, and he seems primed to make a big comeback in 2025.

Darnell Savage

There was a lot of hype for Savage when he was first signed, but ended up either being inconsistent, struggling with injury, or falling under the radar entirely. Ultimately, his time in Jacksonville was underwhelming, but he could bounce back in 2025.

The Jaguars had close to the worst defense in the league last season, but again, this is a new year with a new staff. Savage has been receiving a lot of praise from Coen during training camp, and with Campanile at the helm, Savage - and the rest of the defense, really - should be able to mount an impressive comeback, more akin to the performance we saw from him while he was still in Green Bay.
