Man United 3-2 Burnley: Post-match Man United player ratings

Man United claimed their first win of the season with a dramatic last minute penalty from Bruno Fernandes that helped them secure a much needed first three points of the season.

The Red Devils took the lead in the first half courtesy of an own goal from Burnley midfielder Josh Cullen, which was swiftly followed up by the injury of Matheus Cunha.

After United missed a number of chances in the first half, they were punished by Burnley in the second. A goal from Lyle Foster levelled the scoring before Bryan Mbeumo quickly restored United's lead.

Another goalkeeping mistake from Altay Bayindir allowed Jaidon Anthony to score a second equaliser for the Clarets. A last minute penalty that was converted by Fernandes ensured United left Old Trafford with all three points.

Altay Bayındır – 4

**Bayindir**struggled badly again, making a costly error for Burnley’s second goal. The United goalkeeper looked nervous with the ball at his feet and shaky under pressure.

The Turkish International made some decent claims late on, but overall unreliable. United fans will feel the goalkeeper position remains a huge weakness.

Leny Yoro – 7

The youngster showed flashes of composure in possession for a teenager. The Frenchman's positioning was tested by Burnley’s direct play, but he recovered well. Yoro was solid enough but still adapting to Premier League intensity.

Matthijs de Ligt – 5

The defender had a mixed display as he was strong in aerial duels but occasionally caught flat-footed. De Ligt has not fully settled yet as United’s defensive leader & needs more consistency and chemistry with Yoro.

Luke Shaw – 5

The England international had an average performance; offered width but was not at his sharpest defensively. Burnley’s right side got joy against the defender at times. Shaw’s fitness is still building after injuries.

Diogo Dalot – 7

Dalot was one of the more reliable defenders on the day. The wing-back got forward well, linking with Amad and Mbeumo. **Dalot**was defensively disciplined, though caught once on the counter.

**Casemiro**– 6

The 33-year-old battled well in midfield, breaking up play and recycling possession. The midfielder slowed down transitions at times but made important defensive contributions. The Brazilian still looks like he’s managing his legs at 33.

Bruno Fernandes – 8 MOTM

The captain ran the game for United, constantly demanding the ball. Fernandes created chances and tested Burnley’s keeper from range.

The midfielder kept composure to bury the stoppage-time penalty for the winner— classic captain’s performance.

Mason Mount – 7/10

The Englishman was energetic and sharp, probably his best display in months. Mount pressed with intensity, linked midfield to attack, and nearly scored. The midfielder looks to be regaining confidence after a poor first season.

Amad Diallo – 8

The wing-back was electric on the right wing & should have scored in the first half but won the stoppage-time penalty. Amad constantly ran at Burnley’s defence, causing chaos with his dribbling & was arguably United’s best outfield player on the day.

Bryan Mbeumo – 8

The summer signing was direct and lively on the left, always stretching Burnley’s backline & scored his first Premier league goal for the club. The attacker linked brilliantly with **Mount**and Cunha before Cunha's injury in the first half. Mbeumo looks a shrewd signing.

Matheus Cunha – 6

The attacker worked hard off the ball but lacked sharpness in front of goal. The summer signing held the ball up at times, but didn’t make the best of his chances. Cunha looked like he is still adjusting to his role as United’s central striker & was very frustrated when he had to come off through injury.

Substitutes

Joshua Zirkzee – 5

The strikers came on but didn’t affect the game much. The Dutch international struggled to impose himself physically.

Kobbie Mainoo – 6

The midfielder brought calmness in midfield late on. The England international helped steady the ship after Burnley pressure.

Benjamin Šeško – 5

The summer signing was introduced late, little time to influence. The striker had a header that went off over the bar late on but struggled to get involved meaningfully overall.

Noussair Mazraoui – 6

The defender had a positive first cameo of the season, shoring up the right side late one. **Mazraoui**provided energy and defensive cover.
