Capital Football have spoken to former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Benjamin Stambouli. Here is what he said:

**On his season at Tottenham Hotspur with Mauricio Pochettino back in 2014/15:** "I have many good memories, playing for Tottenham enabled me to take the next step in my career in many aspects. Mauricioms training sessions were very difficult as he strove for perfection with and without the ball. I was blessed to play with great players and discover a magnificent club and league."

**Tottenham were packed with Frenchmen back then, yet these days players from France are few and far between. Surprised they've moved?** "No it's a different era now with different managers and coaches who prefer different profiles. It's like that at any club, sometimes there are more Spaniards, Italians, Argentines, Frenchmen or Belgians. But it's true that in my days Tottenham were littered with French players. Being able to live such an experience was amazing."

**Do you think your generation laid the foundations for the successes in later years such as the Champions League final and Europa League glory?** "The team was already very good (in 2014/15) and I think over the years Tottenham have become more consistent. When I watched the Supercup against Paris I saw that they have a lot of quality. In the end it came down to penalties. I think the team spirit is irreproachable, everyone work hard and pulled in the same direction together. The way they use the ball, it's quick and it hurts. Tottenham are an amazing team."

**Dumping Ange Postecoglou for Thomas Frank despite leading the club to the Europa League trophy. Weird choice?** "Football is made of choices and only time will tell whether it was the right call. But I've followed Frank at Brentford where he did a nice job. He's a very positive person and I think he'll do this club a world of good. Winning the Premier League is possible, anything is in football. The proof is, I won Ligue 1 with Montpellier. I wish Tottenham the best."
