Player Ratings: Wolves V Everton

lewis hickey rates the players in wolves defeat to Everton

Sa – 6.5

Not much Sa could do with the goals today, he commanded his area well and dealt with the in-swinging Everton corners.

H.Bueno -6.5

Deserved his start after his recent performances and he did okay today, took players on and he looked like he wanted to be positive when he had the ball.

Toti – 6

Way too slow at releasing the ball when Jackson was completely free and when he did pass he lost the ball multiple times, Defensively he was better in the second half.

Agbadou – 4.5

One of the worst performances I’ve seen from him misjudging the flight of the ball, gave the ball away way too much which lead to the third goal which was completely avoidable.

Shambolic start to the season for him.

S.Bueno – 6.5

Another who deserved the start been good when he’s come on in games and he battled well with beto today and just defended well, did the basics well.

Tchatchoua – 6

Wasn’t given the ball enough in my opinion, linked up well with Munetsi for the goal but he didn’t have a very good second half.

Andre – 6

At fault for second goal trying too much in a dangerous position and giving the ball away which happened more than once in the game

J.Gomes -7

Best player on the pitch and it’s not even close constantly battling and fighting for the team always winning the ball back, typical Gomes performance.

Munetsi– 6

Created Hwangs goal well with a perfect cross into the box but other than that he was poor, didn’t win many headers and his first touch was poor at times.

Arias – 6

Didn’t really get in the game today, I think he’s still adapting to life in the Premier League, but he showed sparks of what he can do but his decision making at times was poor. I’m sure after the international break we will see his true talent.

Hwang– 6

Had some criticism the past week but he took his goal really well and he deserves it, hopefully he gains some confidence from that, but he had some poor first touches and passes which still needs improving if he’s going the be staying and getting regular minutes.

R.Gomes – 7

Full of energy, constantly trying to create an opportunity. He should be in the starting 11 after the break because he offers us a lot on the right hand side. Pace and determination to get on the end of crosses like he did today with a tidy finish.

Kalajdzic – 6.5

Needs to come on earlier, seems to create havoc when he comes on. Putting himself about winning headers, linking up play and even winning the ball back. Really deserves a chance in this team this season.

Bellegarde – 6

Decent cameo from JRB, did everything he needed to do linked up well with Wolfe down the left. Definitely a better performance than the first half at Bournemouth.

Wolfe – 6

Did well when he came on, a steady cameo from the Norwegian. The assist for Gomes was perfect something I want to see more of from him when he gets into that position high up the pitch.

Fer Lopez – 6

Really good cameo from Fer, constantly wanted the ball and he tried to make things happen. Someone who loves to drive with the ball and switch the play and in my opinion, he should start over Munetsi on the right hand side.

thoughts…

Something has got to change with the formation or the players that Vitor picks because it’s clearly not working. We start the game so slowly and we’re not quick enough to release the ball. I would like to see either a 3412 with Sasa being utilised with Larsen or a 4231 which could work with the personnel we have recruited in the window. This is less likely to happen with Vitors preferred style of play. But it would mean we have more players in attack with the use of Fer Lopez and Arias in the tight spaces behind the striker.
