Football transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has revealed within the last hour the news that will bring a shiver down the spine of West Ham fans.
Thee Italian ITK has tonight revealed that talks are advancing for West Ham’s Lucas Paquetá to join Aston Villa.
The update comes after a day of intense speculation and counter-rumours, with earlier suggestions indicating the Brazilian was set to remain at the London Stadium.

Romano has reported that Paqueta could leave West Ham
This afternoon a top London Stadium source told Claret & Hugh: “We have no interest in selling, we want to keep him, and Villa’s offer is lower than our valuation.”
Paquetá’s representatives have always insisted the 28-year-old would not push for a move away from West Ham. In fact, he has travelled with the squad to Nottingham for tomorrow’s Premier League game against Forest, despite claims to the contrary.
Paqueta likely to leave?
However, reports suggesting he is open to the idea of joining Unai Emery’s Villa side now appear to be accurate. As a result, it seems increasingly likely that he could join the Midlands club before the transfer deadline.
Posting on his social media, Romano wrote:
“Understand Aston Villa are now advancing in talks to sign Lucas Paquetá. Negotiations underway with West Ham while Paquetá is keen on Aston Villa move.”
The Italian has also reported a £47m transfer with his obligatory “Here we go” meaning the deal is nearing completion.
It’s the sort of news Hammers fans have been dreading. Unless the club can bring in more creative talent before the window shuts, this would be a sale that undoubtedly leaves the team weaker.
