Youssef Chermiti’s time as an Everton player is coming to an end as talks advance over a move to Rangers.

Rangers were linked with a move for Chermiti last week, with former Everton transfer chief Kevin Thelwell now employed in a similar roles at Ibrox.

David Moyes has already confirmed Chermiti is set to leave Everton, albeit it initially looked as though it would be on a loan basis.

However, Chermiti is instead set to join Rangers on a permanent deal, bringing an end to a disappointing spell on Merseyside.

Rangers set to pay Everton £10m for Youssef Chermiti

It was reported earlier on Saturday that a fee of £8million was likely to be exchanged between 55-time Scottish champions Rangers and Everton for Chermiti.

But according to The Times journalist Paul Joyce via X on 30 August, the fee could in fact rise as high as £10m.

Talks are said to be progressing ahead of Monday night’s transfer deadline.

Chermiti joined Everton from Sporting CP for a fee of £15m in August 2023

Now set to join Rangers for a fee rising to £10m

That is a £5m loss on a player yet to score a senior goal for the Toffees

Selling Chermiti for £10m would represent a £5m hit on the sum Everton paid to sign Chermiti from Sporting CP in August 2023.

What is Youssef Chermiti’s goalscoring record for Everton?

Chermiti was always likely to face an uncertain future at Hill Dickinson Stadium this summer and so it has proved.

The bottom line is that the 21-year-old has not been good enough for Everton, albeit he will argue he has not been given enough opportunities to impress.

Youssef Chermiti has a poor record at Everton

Chermiti has played 24 times for Everton’s senior side and has yet to find the back of the net. Clearly not a great record for a forward.

Twenty-three of those appearances have come in the Premier League, but he has started just one of those, and none at all since 2023-24.

Chermiti will now hope he gets the opportunity to kickstart his career north of the border, at a Rangers side going through a very tough period right now.
