Luke Edwards shares how Alexander Isak is feeling about leaving Newcastle for Liverpool as…

Alexander Isak remains in limbo and Newcastle United and Liverpool could be set for showdown talks before Monday’s transfer deadline.

Isak is desperate to leave Newcastle and join Liverpool but remains on the books at St James’ Park.

The wantaway Sweden forward has now missed three competitive games for Newcastle United in his attempts to move to Anfield.

Thus far, Liverpool have not returned with a new offer. Newcastle have said they expect Isak to stay but, clearly, their stance will only really be tested if and when the Reds make a fresh bid.

With Nick Woltemade through the door, Newcastle are reportedly increasingly open to selling Isak.

Still, while there isn’t even an offer on the table, he remains a Newcastle player. Just one who doesn’t play.

Luke Edwards has now provided an update.

On social media platform X, the Daily Telegraph journalist wrote: “He is still confident he will get that move. Two days left for it to happen or it’s going to be very awkward indeed for the Swede.”

A game that resembled trench warfare and a second goalless draw in three games for Newcastle United. I don’t know where things go from here for Alexander Isak but if he doesn’t get his move to Liverpool his refusal to play will never be forgotten. Some will never forgive.

Liverpool and Newcastle United expected to resume Alexander Isak talks

It would be very strange if Liverpool didn’t return to the table for Isak.

Indeed, they clearly want the player, and he obviously wants to go. The fact that Newcastle have signed Woltemade may well give Liverpool confidence that the club’s stance has softened.

Geordie Boot Boys understands that Newcastle still want to sign another striker, which perhaps suggests they would be willing to let Isak go if they can get one through the door.

According to Dominic King of The Daily Mail on social media platform X, Newcastle and Liverpool are likely to resume talks ahead of Monday’s deadline.
