Chelsea suddenly canceled the deal for Nicolas Jackson just hours before he was supposed to join Bayern Munich. They said it was because Liam Delap was injured. The 24-year-old striker, who had already gone to Germany for a medical, is said to be very angry about the decision and doesn’t want to go back to London.
Chelsea had agreed to let Jackson go to Bayern on loan for £13 million, with the option to buy him next summer for more than £60 million. But everything changed when the Blues beat Fulham 2-0. Delap hurt his hamstring badly, and it is thought that he will be out for up to eight weeks.
Jackson was excited about the move to the Bundesliga because he had fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea went from having four forwards to just one when Joao Pedro was in great shape and Christopher Nkunku was sold to AC Milan.
People close to Jackson say he feels “angry” by the last-minute change of heart. It’s not clear if Jackson will agree to play at Stamford Bridge or make another last-minute move, but Chelsea’s striker crisis has already caused a lot of problems.
How Chelsea and Bayern Have Reacted to Nicolas Jackson Situation
After Liam Delap got hurt, Chelsea pulled out of the deal, and Nicolas Jackson’s move to Bayern Munich fell apart in a big way. Chelsea changed their mind, even though Jackson was in Munich and ready for a medical. After the game, manager Enzo Maresca said:
“I just finished the game, came here and have no idea. We’re going to sit now and we’ll see. Honestly, I have no idea. “When you have two strikers, it’s enough. When one of them is injured for different weeks, probably it’s not enough.”
Diomansy Kamara, his agent, is now working to save the deal before the transfer window closes. He wrote on social media:
“The plane doesn’t go backwards… Munich.”
Max Eberl, the director of Bayern, said:
“Chelsea have informed us that they want the player back after we reached an agreement yesterday and [permission] to conduct a medical. “Now the situation is that the boy is in Munich and we have to send him back. That’s the current state of affairs, but I can’t look into the future.”
