Leeds United once again used their home advantage as they secured another big result in the Premier League. The Whites beat Everton in the season opener, and have now held Eddie Howe’s Newcastle side to a goalless draw.
Daniel Farke’s side were well drilled tactically, and possessed the ball well. There were some sequences where decision making could have been better, but it was a good game overall. Leeds have now bounced back from the previous results. Before the club’s first game in the league, Farke urged the crowd to continue creating an atmosphere to make Elland Road a fortress, and it looks like they have delivered so far.

Jamie Carragher slams Leeds United goalkeeper

The game against Newcastle once again saw Leeds goalkeeper Lucas Perri have some shaky moments. Last week against Arsenal, Gary Neville was not pleased when the keeper was attracting unnecessary pressure at the back.
Jamie Carragher has now spoken on what he saw at Elland Road on Saturday:
“I have watched Leeds United in all three games this season and I have seen enough now to know that the goalkeeper is going to get caught at some point.
“With the ball at his feet he takes his time and I think other teams are going to take notice of that. Leeds need to be wary of that and the manager needs to have a word.”
Daniel Farke explains Lucas Perri’s distribution woes
Though Neville and Carragher have complained about the Leeds keeper’s distribution, Daniel Farke had a reasonable explanation for why that is the case.
“Lucas came with an injury. Two clean sheets always good. We know he can improve his kicking. We don’t want him acting like a 10 or additional outfield player, but room for improvement. Needs time with GK coach. Main thing is saving the ball. So far, so good.”
Perri has been shaky at times, and in some moments, it has paid off. If he gets better at distributing the ball, Leeds have a very useful outlet when they come under pressure.
