Jack Grealish has quickly rediscovered his best form since moving to Everton on loan with David Moyes still surprised by the quality that he's bought to Merseyside

Everton boss David Moyes has confessed that Jack Grealish is "better than I thought he was" after the loanee came up with another two assists in the Toffees' win at Wolves.

The Merseysiders recorded their second win in the space of a week with the ex-Manchester City star playing a starring role. After making his debut in the loss at Leeds he's returned to his creative best. On Saturday Grealish laid on goals for Beto and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Last week he also assisted both goals in the win over Brighton having only come up with just two Premier League assists in two underwhelming seasons at City.

Moyes went after the former Aston Villa man as he sought to add more quality to his Everton attack and, despite Grealish having a stellar reputation in the past, the Scot has still seen the loanee exceed his expectations.

The Everton boss said: "It's nothing to do with me, let me tell you, it's all to do with Jack and his own mentality to be better. There's a wee bit to prove, I'm sure, I think we all have. I think in life, you've always got something you have to strive to do. And I think Jack wants to show that he's a good player. I think he's showing it at the moment.

"I think some of his football has been really good. The biggest compliment I could probably give him is he's better than I thought he was. You know, he's so good. I think what Jack gives us is something just on the edge, which, hopefully it's on the edge of creativeness and maybe scoring goals."

Grealish saw his stock plummet under Pep Guardiola in Manchester and found himself increasingly struggling for minutes. It became clear that he needed to find a new home when he was snubbed from their Club World Cup squad - with his England ambitions also being hit.

This week Thomas Tuchel chose not to include the playmaker in his latest Three Lions squad. Grealish missed out on the last major tournament as Gareth Southgate chose to overlook him ahead of Euro 2024 and remains determined to return to the fold.

The German manager said: “There’s no doubt I am a big fan of Trent [Alexander-Arnold] and Jack [Grealish] of both their talent and personalities. They are big players, they will always be big players. And they will always be in the mix to be called up.

“I know that both of them are desperate to be back, which is really important. I think they can have a bit more rhythm, I think Jack is starting to play again and he has a huge impact at Everton, which is nice to see.”
