Glen Powell Becomes the Mrs. Doubtfire of Football in New 'Chad Powers' Trailer

Hulu has unveiled the trailer for its upcoming comedy series Chad Powers, which stars Glen Powell ***(Anyone But You)***as Russ Holiday, a disgraced quarterback who reinvents himself to reclaim his lost career. The six-episode half-hour series will premiere September 30, 2025, with a two-episode launch, followed by weekly Tuesday drops. Chad Powers is co-created by Powell and Michael Waldron (Loki), and is inspired by NFL star Eli Manning’s viral persona from the unscripted ESPN series, Eli’s Places. Manning and his brother Peyton Manning also serve as executive producers of the upcoming show.

The trailer for Chad Powers traces the history of Russ’s career and how everything came to a halt with one unforgivable mistake. “I’m not done with football,” says the main character when he is told to move on. Viewers also get a glimpse of Powell’s character donning a wig and prosthetics to try out for an open position with the South Georgia Catfish. The two-and-a-half-minute clip features plenty of close calls and locker-room chaos as Russ tries to keep his cover from being blown.

“Two identities, one icon, zero shame,” reads the show’s poster, which features Powell as both versions of his character. The impressive cast of Chad Powers also features Perry Mattfeld as Ricky, Quentin Plair as Coach Byrd, Wynn Everett as Tricia Yeager, Frankie A. Rodriguez as Danny, and Steve Zahn as Coach Jake Hudson. The upcoming show marks Powell’s return to television nearly a decade after he last played Chad Radwell on Ryan Murphy’s 2015 horror series, Scream Queens.

Peyton Manning and Glen Powell Open up About Fleshing Out ‘Chad Powers’

In a recent interview with a news outlet, Powell and Peyton opened up about how their unlikely creative partnership came together. The former quarterback shared that he and Eli were deeply involved in making sure that Powell looked like a professional on screen. “They sent Eli and me the videos of his throwing sessions,” shared the athlete, while talking about how he and his brother helped the actor get his mechanics right.

Powell, on the other hand, admitted that Russ is one of the hardest characters he has ever played, especially since he had to put on two completely different personalities. Peyton added that turning the original 15-minute sketch from Eli’s Places into a full half-hour series was a difficult process. When the Mannings started taking pitches, the Creative Artists Agency (CAA) connected them with Powell and Waldron. The duo had never worked together before but shared an obsession with college football and quickly found the story they wanted to tell.

According to the older Manning brother, Powell and Waldron’s idea leaned into the comedy of the situation, which is what ultimately sold them on the idea. Powell went on to explain that he wanted to use the lie at the center of the story to create fun conflict. “Let’s ***Mrs. Doubtfire***it, and let’s see how far we can take this lie,” added the ***Top Gun: Maverick***star.

Chad Powers premieres on September 30 on Hulu. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
