Green Bay Packers: Is Micah Parsons the New Reggie White? GM Shoots Down Defensive End’s…

Micah Parsons is the Green Bay Packers’ new main defensive end after a wild trade with the Dallas Cowboys. The team through general manager Brian Gutekunst then instantly made him the highest-paid non quarterback in the NFL by paying him $188 million for four years.

Fans are feeling great about their future. They are feeling nostalgic, too, as the news made them go back to 1993 because of the several parallelism during the time they acquired Hall of Fame inductee Reggie White.

Both Parsons and White are NFL Defensive Player of the Year winners. The latter won his first before the Packers and the second one while with the team.

White also became the highest-paid non-QB when Packers signed him in 1993 after signing a four-year, $17 million.

Stats-wise, there are also similarities.

Fans and media members are also raving on the potential to win the Super Bowl because of these similarities.

“That is a Reggie White then you go win the Super Bowl move…”

Green Bay Packers GM says it’s a different time

Gutekunst was not there yet in the Packers front office when they acquired White. Although the parallels are obvious, he said he does not see it.

“I don’t think there’s really any parallels at all,” Gutekunst told reporters on Friday.

“Again, I wasn’t here [when White was acquired], so it’s hard for me really to compare that. A different time. I think the Packers organization was in a different space at that time. So, I can’t really comment on that.”

He’s probably just taking the pressure off Parsons.

“Micah’s his own man, and he’s going to forge his own path here,” he added.

“But I think he’s going to be a really, really, really good fit for our locker room, a really good fit for our team.”
