West Ham United have reportedly entered the race for the signature of 25-year-old out-of-favour Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira.
Fabio Vieira is expected to leave Arsenal before the end of the transfer deadline, and multiple top clubs are interested in the Portuguese international. According to Florian Plettenberg, West Ham United have entered the race and are looking to strike a deal with the North London club.
Vieira came up the ranks at FC Porto and made a name for himself while playing for their first team, before joining the Gunners in a deal worth €40 million back in 2022. While Mikel Arteta’s team had a lot of expectations from the 25-year-old attacking midfielder, the move hasn’t gone according to plan.
He has struggled to establish himself as a key part of their squad and spent the second half of last season on loan at his former club. While Vieira is back at his parent club and still has two years left on his contract, he is surplus to requirements, and Arsenal are looking to get him off their books.
Vieira to leave Arsenal before deadline
The North London club are looking to offload him before the end of the transfer window, and there is a lot of interest in his services. VfB Stuttgart are believed to be admirers of the 25-year-old. While they consider him an ideal fit for their project, a potential transfer is currently too expensive for them.
Another top Bundesliga club playing in the Champions League are also interested in his signature. However, their name hasn’t been revealed, and it isn’t certain if they would go ahead and table an offer.
Meanwhile, Premier League outfit West Ham United have entered the race for his signature. Following a poor start to the new season, Graham Potter is desperate to add more quality to his midfield. He seeks more creativity and feels Vieira could help their cause.
While they are keen on his signature, they haven’t taken any concrete steps to sign him, and with the deadline fast approaching, it will be interesting to see if they come forward with an official proposal.
