Drafted in the second round (33rd overall) by the Atlanta Falcons in 1991 out of Southern Mississippi, Favre saw limited action as a rookie before being traded to the Green Bay Packers, where he revitalized the franchise.
Over 16 seasons with the Packers, Favre led them to 11 playoff appearances, including a [Super Bowl XXXI](https://www.nfl.com/photos/super-bowl-xxxi-09000d5d801c3639#a38bcc60-f707-4e7a-afcd-fd51e71b4477) victory in 1997, where he threw for 246 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-21 win over the New England Patriots.
He earned three consecutive NFL MVP awards from 1995-1997, becoming the first to do so, and set records for most career touchdown passes (508) and passing yards (71,838) at retirement, though later surpassed.

His 2009 season with the Minnesota Vikings was a resurgence, throwing for 4,202 yards and 33 touchdowns at age 40, nearly reaching another Super Bowl. Favre also played one season with the New York Jets (2008).
Favre’s career totals include 71,838 passing yards, 508 touchdowns and 336 interceptions across 302 games, with 1,802 rushing yards and 14 scores. He holds the record for most consecutive starts by a quarterback (297) and was the first to throw for 30+ touchdowns in nine seasons. Favre earned 11 Pro Bowl selections, three first-team All-Pro honors and a Hall of Fame induction in 2016.

Favre’s standout attributes were his cannon arm and extraordinary durability, playing through injuries like a broken thumb. He also had deceptive mobility, extending plays with his athleticism.
