The Packers’ blockbuster trade to acquire Micah Parsonas has been heralded as one of the most impactful in recent NFL history, by those inside the league.
“They’re Super Bowl contenders now,” an AFC scout told me, on the condition of anonymity to speak freely about the trade.
However, not everyone is convinced that Green Bay’s trade will be the difference-maker that Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst hopes and league insiders believe it will.
Packers Get Micah Parsons Warning From Former Teammates
Green Bay Packers, Micah Parsons
Green Bay Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons speaks during an introductory press conference on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis. The Packers made a trade with the Dallas Cowboys on Aug. 28 to acquire Parsons in exchange for defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two first round picks.

Parsons lands in Green Bay as a potential missing piece for Packers coordinator Jeff Hafley’s defense, boasting 52.5 career sacks, and off a season in which he posted the third-highest pass rush win rate among NFL Edge rushers.
But, some of Parsons’ former teammates have a strong warning for the Packers.
“Martin, Lamb and Prescott are/were very popular in the locker room,” Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer wrote. “That’s not the case with Parsons, who has rankled teammates in different ways, seen by some as egotistical and self-centered. His podcast has created issues, too, that go all the way up to quarterback Dak Prescott.”

There was apparently a belief among some of Parsons’ former Cowboys teammates that Parsons spent too much time on his podcast, and too little honing his craft.
Whether those Cowboys players are merely bitter that Dallas traded away one of the franchise’s brightest stars, or those concerns hold merit remains to be seen. But, Parsons’ impact on the field is undeniable and he could be a game-changer for the Packers.
