Insider Says Jets Could Have Interest In Raiders WR

The New York Jets have some major questions right now.

Their passing game might not be the most proficient in the game.

With that in mind, they could look to add more firepower by trading for a veteran pass-catcher.

According to a report by Jets insider Rich Cimini, they could be keeping an eye on Las Vegas Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers.

ESPN's Rich Cimini said #Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers is a "name to watch" for the #Jets. đź‘€

He requested a trade this offseason.

Meyers requested a trade after failing to secure the contract extension he was looking for.

And given his familiarity with the Jets’ passing game coordinator, Scott Turner, who was an assistant on the Raiders for the past couple of years, he could be a seamless fit in New York.

He would also be a big boost to help the ever-struggling Justin Fields get it together on offense.

There have been some worrisome reports about Fields coming out of training camp, with some unflattering footage of his well-documented accuracy issues going viral again.

They already have a budding star in Garrett Wilson, but given the way they’ve struggled on offense, it wouldn’t hurt to add another veteran to the mix.

Even so, Aaron Glenn’s team will reportedly take a run-heavy approach to the offense.

He pointed out that they could feature all three running backs early and often, even though they have a legitimate star in Breece Hall.

This will be a crucial season for Fields’ career, and if the Jets are truly committed to him and want to put him in a position to succeed, trading for Meyers makes perfect sense.
