The start of the NFL season is just around the corner.
That’s why Matthew Golden had to make up his mind and finally settle for a number.
As reported by NFL Jersey Numbers on X, he ultimately chose to wear No. 0 for the Green Bay Packers.

The Texas Longhorns star initially picked No. 81 before switching to No. 22.
Now, he will become the first player in Packers history to wear No. 0, a number that was made available when the league changed its rules back in 2023.
Golden used to wear No. 2 in high school and during his collegiate years at Houston and Texas, but that number is currently owned by backup quarterback Malik Willis.
Notably, this gives the Packers another young star with lower numbers, since recently acquired defensive end Micah Parsons just chose to wear No.1.
As for Golden, he will be firmly expected to operate as the team’s primary pass-catcher threat.
The Longhorns star was one of the most promising prospects entering the league this season, and the Packers hope that he will establish himself as their first bona fide star wide receiver since Davante Adams’ departure.
The Packers now have legitimate Super Bowl aspirations, and with the number thing out of the way, Golden and everybody else can focus on what’s truly important this season.
