Video: Saliba now spotted after Arsenal v Liverpool, replies journo when asked for injury update

Arsenal centre-back William Saliba lasted just four minutes on the pitch against Liverpool today due to a knock.

The Gunners star was taken off for Cristhian Mosquera as he was unable to continue the game, and manager Mikel Arteta revealed after the game that he felt something during the warm-up.

Scans this week will determine the extent of the injury, but Saliba appeared fine after the game, and he gave a thumbs up when asked by journalist John Cross if he is ok.

He is expected to withdraw from the France national team for their games during the international break, but whether he will be back to action after two weeks remains to be seen.

Arsenal are back in action on September 13 when they host Nottingham Forest, and a trip to Spain three days later to play Athletic Club in their first game of the league phase of the Champions League follows.

They host Manchester City afterwards and the Gunners could do with Saliba for such a huge game.

His absence would not be a big blow as Arsenal have depth at the back right now, with Mosquera putting in a decent performance today.

Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie is also expected to be available to feature for the North Londoners after the break as he closes in on a move.

Arteta will be unhappy that such a key player has picked up an injury this early into a new campaign after Bukayo Saka also picked up a knock last weekend.

Arsenal have some of their big players featuring for their respective countries during the international break, and Arteta will be praying they all return unscathed.

The defeat to Liverpool today leaves the Gunners disappointed as they would have preferred to leave Anfield with at least a point.

They will learn their lessons and quickly move on, and resuming action in a fortnight with fully fit players will be a huge boost.
