Tennessee Titans CB L'Jarius Sneed primed to make a comeback.
It’s no secret that the Tennessee Titans are in desperate need of good players. Sure, it’s true that all NFL teams need good players, but it’s especially true in Nashville.
The Titans need all hands on deck and multiple league observers have targeted one particular player to have a bounce-back season and become an “X” factor on defense.
L’Jarius Sneed was an incredibly good cornerback for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2023, but after being shipped to the Titans last year, he was unproductive and then hurt in 2024.
ESPN writer says L’Jarius Sneed is an X factor for the 2025 season
Ben Solak of ESPN recently penned “2025 NFL season X factors: Key players for all 32 teams.” He does a pretty good job of bringing us up to speed on Sneed’s recent journey to the Titans.
“Be honest — did you remember Sneed was a Titan?,” Solak writes. “He was all the rage in 2023 as a dominant press-man corner for the Chiefs with positional versatility — but after their Super Bowl win, they traded him to Tennessee in lieu of signing him to a market-setting extension. He was meant to be a linchpin of new coordinator Dennard Wilson’s defense, but he was shaky in September and injured by October, missing the rest of the season with a quadriceps injury.”
How good can Sneed be as he recovers from injury? Let’s be honest, the Titans really only have two wide receivers to worry about in the division. Brian Thomas of the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Houston Texans‘ way-better-than-you-think wide receiver Nico Collins. That said, it would still be nice if they could be handled by Sneed.
“Sneed is back, having taken a cautious road back to full recovery in the hopes that he can hit the ground running in 2025,” Solak continues. “The rest of the Titans’ secondary, including young corners Jarvis Brownlee Jr. and Roger McCreary, is ready to take a big leap. But they need Sneed to recover his Chiefs form as a physical winner and WR1 eraser. If he does, don’t be surprised if this defense is a top-10 unit by the end of the season.”
Former agent pegs L’Jarius Sneed to have comeback year
Joel Corry is a former sports agent who now writes for CBS Sports. It’s actually refreshing to hear the perspective of a former agent in our NFL news sphere.
Corry thinks it’s imperative for Sneed to bounce back or the Titans will be inclined to move on at some point.
“Sneed didn’t resemble the shutdown cornerback he was in 2023 during the five games he played last season before going on injured reserve with a quadriceps injury,” Corry writes. “The Titans acquired Sneed from the Kansas City Chiefs, who had designated him as a franchise player, in March 2024 for a 2025 third-round pick with the teams also swapping 2024 seventh-round picks.
“Sneed signed a four-year, $76.4 million contract, averaging $19.1 million per year with $55 million in guarantees, in the process. Out of the $55 million, $44 million was fully guaranteed at signing. If Sneed doesn’t return to form, the Titans would pick up nearly $12 million in 2026 salary cap space by exiting the deal.”
