Aside from the Green Bay Packers, one big beneficiary from the Dallas Cowboys trading Micah Parsons away out of the NFC East are division rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles.
Whilst the Eagles won’t necessarily have felt a huge threat from their division rivals, a player like Parsons is always difficult to game-plan against, and always leaves open the option for a game-altering play at any point across the four quarters.
For the ensuing season, bouts against the Cowboys will feel a lot nicer, especially for the Philadelphia’s offense. And the offensive-focused head coach, Nick Sirianni, was asked about the trade on Sunday during media availability.
Sirianni did not give away too many enthusiastic thoughts about the departure of the All-Pro edge from Dallas just seven days prior to facing them in the season opener on September 4th. But it certainly does not look like the Super Bowl winner will be missing his former defensive foe.
Nick Sirianni on the Micah Parsons trade: "We have so much going on. We're getting ready to play the Cowboys. He's in your thoughts of game-planning. They sitll have guys we have to preapre for — they obviously got Kenny Clark, who's a really good player and they have good depth…

Nick Sirianni ‘Not To Wrapped Up’ About Micah Parsons Trade
“We have so much going on.” Sirianni said on Sunday, per Berman. “We’re getting ready to play the Cowboys. He’s in your thoughts of game-planning. They still have guys we have to prepare for — they obviously got Kenny Clark, who’s a really good player and they have good depth at the defensive end group. So you don’t get too wrapped up into that.”
The Cowboys did acquire former first round nose tackle Kenny Clark, who despite a down year in 2024 that saw him produce just one sole sack, remains more than solid against the run – so that could certainly factor in the offensive game plan for the rushing attack.
But overwhelmingly, not having to plan a large portion of the offensive line movements around one singular, destructive player in two of their 17 games will be boon for Philly, who are aiming to win back-to-back Super Bowls for the first time in franchise history.
How Will The Eagles Be Impacted By The Parsons Trade?
The Eagles will have an easier set of games against the Cowboys, in all likelihood. And as a division hopeful Dallas feels almost as far away as the lowly New York Giants.
They still have to contend with a strong, up-and-coming Washington Commanders team who will look to build on a very promising first season with quarterback, Jayden Daniels and head coach Dan Quinn, at the helm.
All-Pro Eagles left tackle, Jordan Mailata, who often went head-to-head with the former Cowboy, has – in his own words – “breathed a sigh of relief” after hearing of his departure.

“I say that as a joke,” Mailata said, referring to his “sigh of relief” comments, “but at the same time, it’s just kinda crazy. For the last four, five years we’ve played the Cowboys, we’ve come up with a game plan, because Micah’s a gamer. So it is a sigh of relief that you don’t have to plan like that anymore. However, that is a talented D-line and talented defense, so you’ve got to treat them with the same respect with or without Parsons.”
