With QB Aidan O'Connell injured, Raiders HC Pete Carroll weighed in on backup Cam Miller.

On August 25,ESPN reported, citing a source, that Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, who is entering the final year of his contract, requested a trade.

Moreover, the report reveals that Las Vegas and Meyers haven’t been able to agree on a new deal, but the team has no intention of moving on from him. Nonetheless, even if the Raiders have no intention of moving him, every team has its price.

If the Silver and Black were willing to trade Meyers, former NFL pass rusher Chris Long suggests that Meyers return to the New England Patriots as a potential landing spot.

“Amari Cooper arrives about the same time Meyers asked for a trade,”Long said on his “Green Light” podcast. “By the way, I think a reunion in New England would be a lot of fun.”

Is Jakobi Meyers Entering His Prime Production Years?

Over his two seasons in Las Vegas, Meyers has played in 31 games, recording 158 receptions, 1,834 receiving yards, and 12 touchdowns.

Nonetheless, last season was his breakout year as Meyers hauledin 87 passes for a career-high 1,027 yards and four touchdowns while catching passes from Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell.

Returning to New England would be afull-circle moment as the Raiders wideout spent the first four seasons of his career with the Patriots. Meyers played in 60 games for the Patriots, registering 235 receptions for 2,758 receivingyards and eight touchdowns.

Meyers was going to have an upgrade at quarterback after catching passes from Minshew and O’Connell last season with veteran signal-caller Geno Smith coming in.

In a May 29 article from Raiders team reporter Levi Edwards, Smith noted his excitement about the new offensive teammates after the offseason trade from the Seattle Seahawks to Las Vegas.

“They’re making my job a lot easier,” Smith said of his teammates. “Tremendously easy to be out here with these young, talented players.I think we havea really good team, areally good array of weaponsand just a bunch of different guys that can doa lot of great things.

“Obviously Brock is who he is. Getting to know Tre [Tucker], getting to know Jakobi [Meyers] and watching Michael go out there and make plays. Ashton is coming along. The offensive line is doing a great job. I think Chip is calling great plays. It’s real easy for me, I’ve just got to go out there and be myself and get the ball into their hands and let them be special.”

Could another AFC East be eyeing the Raiders standout?

The New York Jets don’t have much depth at wide receiver beyond Garrett Wilson. Behind him, the group features Josh Reynolds, Allen Lazard, Xavier Gipson, and rookie Arian Smith.

However, the Jets may still explore outside options, according to ESPN’s Rich Cimini:

“One receiver who might be available is Jakobi Meyers, who reportedly wants the Las Vegas Raiders to trade him. Jets passing game coordinator Scott Turner, a Las Vegas Raiders assistant the previous two seasons, spoke glowingly of Meyers last December: ‘I tell people all the time, he’s one of my favorite players that I’ve ever coached.'”
