A look at the latest predicted Premier League table as deadline day deals threaten to shape the season.

It was another big weekend of Premier League football, and the result of the weekend saw reigning champions Liverpool edge out Arsenal thanks to a moment of brilliance in an otherwise uninspiring stalemate.

The Gunners have plenty of time to bounce back, but it’s an early psychological blow. Elsewhere, Chelsea continued their good form against Fulham, Crystal Palace picked up a big win over Aston Villa, and West Ham finally showed some promise, thrashing Nottingham Forest.

Brentford were defeated by Sunderland over the weekend, and Tottenham’s fast start came to a halt against AFC Bournemouth. Deadline day, on Monday, could yet have a big say on the season, and especially with some of the deals we are expecting to see.

With those expected signings in mind, we have taken a look at the latest OPTA predicted table to see how they see things panning out for the London clubs.

Arteta on Arsenal’s defeat to Liverpool

Arsenal were undone by a stunning free-kick at Anfield, with the two sides looking very evenly matched on the whole. Speaking after the game, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta said: “We're disappointed with the result, I think we deserved more,” he reflected. “I think the team showed a lot of good things throughout the game, a lot of dominance in a place where that is very, very difficult to do. I think we elevated the game to standards that were really high.

“They did it for a period of 15-20 minutes in the second half and then there were no margins so the game was going to be decided whether with an individual error that didn't happen, or with a magic moment. Unfortunately they delivered through Szoboszlai taking an incredible free kick that gave them the game.”

Arsenal lost William Saliba to injury earlier in the game, calling Cristhian Mosquera into action, and to his credit, the former Valencia man stepped up tot he challenge, but the loss of Saliba was still a big challenge in such a big game.

“To play your first game at Anfield when you've been thrown on after an injury to Saliba is very, very difficult, so it was phenomenal,” Arteta added. “I think you have to take that honesty and that personality as well to deliver that, and as we said, with the help of everything, I think he had a really good game.”
