100% passing, 100% dribbles: 13-touch Arsenal star sends big message to Arteta, start him vs…

Arsenal suffered their first defeat of the Premier League campaign at the hands of Liverpool at Anfield.

The game was evenly fought between the clubs and was eventually decided by Dominik Szoboszlai’s stunning free-kick.

Gabriel Martinelli got the nod on the left wing against the Merseyside giants due to his good track record at Anfield.

The Brazilian scored in four of his previous five games at the stadium, but he was hugely disappointing yesterday.

Martinelli completed just six out of seven passes and had only 15 touches in 70 minutes. He did not muster a single attempt on goal.

Eze replaced him off the bench and made a better impact despite not finding the back of the net.

The new summer signing completed nine passes (100 percent accuracy) with 13 touches and had a good scoring chance on his debut.

Eze won the same number of duels as Martinelli (two) and got behind the Reds’ defence on a couple of occasions, which the latter failed to do. He also completed 100 percent of his take-ons.

In his post-match press conference, manager Mikel Arteta highlighted that Arsenal had several one-on-ones, and Eze should have scored at the end.

In our view, the Spaniard was wrong to put Eze under the bus, considering there were several underperformers in the starting XI yesterday.

Eze, on his part, has sent a big message to the manager with his lively cameo and should start on the left wing against Nottingham Forest after the international break.

Arsenal are expected to focus on outgoings before the 7pm transfer deadline today. It remains to be seen whether there is any surprise signing after Piero Hincapie.
