Another disappointing night for Arsenal, and head coach Mikel Arteta, as Liverpool took a late 1-0 victory. This was a tough game, with both teams more interested in not losing than in finding the win. But, all of this changed when Eberechi Eze entered the fray in the 70th minute substituting Gabriel Martinelli.
The £67.5m man had not much time to play with, but still managed to steal the attention of the fans. Every touch was greeted with energy, Eze looked eager to make something happen.
The former Crystal Palace star managed 13 touches, completed all his nine passes. He even pulled off a slick dribble when Arsenal were desperate for some attacking firepower. He also won three ground duels, showing he wasn’t afraid to scrap against Liverpool’s backline. For a debut under the pressure cooker of Anfield, that’s not a bad starting point.
Fans impressed but results still matter
There was lots of positivity from Arsenal fans on social media. They referred to Eze’s cameo as a positive sign of things to come. His composure, quick passing and reluctance to pass backwards gave a real sense of what he can do when he’s settled in.
The next chapter is key for the Englishman. After the international break, Eze could get his first start at the Emirates. The Gunners’ fans will want the same energy and flair but this time paired with three points.

Eberechi Eze looked sharp, confident and hungry in his brief debut at Anfield. Although, it was not yet game-changing start, but you can feel he’s ready to battle for the starting spot in the Gunners squad.
