Inter Milan defender Benjamin Pavard has received a call-up for France following an injury to Arsenal’s William Saliba.

This is confirmed via Italian outlet FCInterNews.

French national team coach Didier Deschamps has already named his squad for the international break.

Initially, the squad did not include Inter defender Benjamin Pavard.

The 29-year-old had been a regular starter for France for a number of years. Most notably, he was a constant in the knockout rounds as France won the World Cup in 2018.

However, the emergence of a number of top defenders in the France setup has seen Pavard fall down the pecking order for Les Bleus.

One such defender is Arsenal’s William Saliba. The 24-year-old has started to become a key player for France.

However, Saliba suffered an injury in the warmup to Arsenal’s 1-0 loss against Liverpool yesterday.

Therefore, the Frenchman had to come off as a substitute after just five years.

And this has caused Saliba to pull out of the France squad for the international break.

Therefore, France coach Deschamps has turned to Pavard, who could add to his 55 caps for France this month.
