The road to the Lombardi Trophy probably goes through the AFC West. And that’s not just because the dynastic Kansas City Chiefs play in that division.
Since the Tom Brady-Bill Belichick (in that order, by the way) New England Patriots fell off, Kansas City has replaced Foxborough as the semiannual home of the AFC championship game. But Chiefs future Hall of Fame coach Andy Reid has plenty of competition now within his division, and the array of coaching talent — in a league where coaches are increasingly hired before they are ready for the job — is historic.
