Brentford still have time to make some more signings as Keith Andrews hunts for new faces to bolster his squad

Brentford have seen Bryan Mbeumo head out the exit door this summer, with Yoane Wissa now set to follow. The Bees have embarked on a new era under the guidance of Keith Andrews. He was picked as their replacement for Thomas Frank, who was lured away by Tottenham Hotspur.

The London club have three points on the board from their first three fixtures of the new Premier League season. They have lost both their away matches against Nottingham Forest and Sunderland. Andrews’ men won their home fixture against Aston Villa.

Brentford to land Reiss Nelson from Arsenal

Reporter Romano has posted on social media: “EXCLUSIVE: Brentford agree deal to sign Reiss Nelsson from Arsenal, here we go! Nelson has chosen to join Brentford on loan, turning down interest from other Premier League clubs as well as European sides. He is now on his way for his medical.”

Nelson, 25, is under contract at Arsenal until 2027. He has been with the Gunners for his whole career to date and rose up through their academy ranks. He was a regular at various different youth levels as a youngster.

The ex-England youth international has played 90 games for his current club to date and has scored eight goals. He has also had spells away from the Emirates Stadium at Hoffenheim, Feyenoord and Fulham. The Londoner spent the second-half of the last campaign with the latter under Marco Silva’s guidance.

Will Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson suit Brentford?

Nelson will give Brentford another option to pick from on the wing. They need to find a way to replace the goals of Mbeumo and Wissa. Andrews has a tough job on his hands as he looks to build on the impressive work that Frank did at the Brentford Community Stadium.

If the Bees can secure Nelson’s services, he will inject even more pace into their starting XI. He is someone who has proved that he can perform at the top level. He just needs regular minutes now which is why he has picked to join up with them.

After signing for Fulham in 2024, their vice-chairman Tony Khan said: “I'm very happy to welcome Reiss Nelson to Fulham Football Club! Reiss is a talented young player, and we're excited that he's joined the squad on loan! His arrival concludes a busy transfer window for the Club, and we're all looking forward to a great season ahead! Come on Fulham!”

He had a couple of injury issues during his time at Craven Cottage. Silva said earlier this summer: “Reiss Nelson was with us last season. He was very unlucky in terms of his injury record last season. Perhaps in his best moment of the season, he had a bad injury that broke the momentum. But he's not our player right now, he's an Arsenal player, so I'm not going to talk about players from another club."
