Arsenal have until the deadline at 7pm to complete any final bits of business to see off the summer
Arsenal have enjoyed a pretty successful summer on the recruitment front. They have brought in the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Noni Madueke as they look to win the title. The Gunners have until the deadline at 7pm to seal any final bits of incoming or outgoing business.
Mikel Arteta’s side have six points on the board from their first three fixtures of the Premier League season. They won their first two outings against Manchester United and Leeds United. The London outfit were beaten last time out by Liverpool and will want to bounce back after the international break.
Arsenal update regarding Oleksandr Zinchenko
According to Sky Sports, Oleksandr Zinchenko’s proposed switch to Marseille from Arsenal is on the brink of collapse. They report that he is ‘unlikely’ to join the French side. He has also attracted interest from Turkey recently and their market shuts on 11th September.
Zinchenko, 28, was snapped up by the Gunners back in 2022. He was brought in by the London outfit to bolster their ranks and give them another option to pick from. The Ukraine international, who has made 73 caps for his country, has since made 91 appearances in all competitions.
The ex-Shakhtar Donetsk youngster moved to England in 2016 when Manchester City came calling. He then spent six years on the books at the Etihad Stadium, some of which he spent away on loan at PSV to boost his development. He played 128 matches for City under the guidance of Pep Guardiola and found the net on two occasions, winning the league, FA Cup and Carabao Cup along the way.
What now for Oleksandr Zinchenko at Arsenal?
Zinchenko’s has fallen out of favour at Arsenal so an exit would suit all parties involved. The Gunners can get him off their books to free up space and funds. Meanwhile, the player can go and get regular game time somewhere else. However, it doesn’t appear that Marseille will be his next destination.
He joined his current club for £32million three years ago. At the time, Arteta said: "We're so happy Alex has joined us. He's a player that I personally know really well and continued to follow him after my time at Manchester City. Alex is a high quality player who will give us options and versatility. It's not only about the positions he can play but as well, the versatility he will give us in attack and defence. Alex is a person with great human qualities and character, and I'm delighted that everyone has made this huge effort to bring Alex to the club."
Meanwhile, Guardiola said: "Like Gabriel [Jesus] and Raheem [Sterling], the impact of those three players in the years I am here has been massive. So we are going to miss them. They are exceptional players but, for different circumstances, they move on. Chelsea and Arsenal are two incredible clubs and the success and happiness they will have there will be ours.
"For myself and I think on behalf of the club, our gratitude for their effort and the way they behave on and off the pitch. It was nice yesterday with Oleks because we could say 'bye' properly. Unfortunately with Raheem and Gabriel we could not do it because it was the summertime, but yesterday at dinner together we could say 'bye' to him."
