The Tennessee Titans will kick off the Cam Ward era with a tough challenge.

They will be on the road to face the Denver Broncos, which isn’t necessarily an ideal setting for a rookie quarterback to make his NFL debut.

Asked about that, Titans head coach Brian Callahan had nothing but positive things to say about the Broncos.

“Really good football team. Expectations are high. They have good players [on] both sides of the ball. Really stiff challenge from a personnel standpoint and they have good coordinators,” Turron Davenport relayed on X.

Denver head coach Sean Payton has done an impressive job in just two seasons.

The Broncos are coming off a surprising trip to the playoffs, and they’re expected to take another leap with quarterback Bo Nix.

They have a championship-caliber defense, anchored by reigning Defensive Player of the Year Pat Surtain II and emerging star Nik Bonitto, and a Super Bowl-winning head coach.

They also bolstered their running game with the additions of J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey, and while they don’t have another prominent pass catcher besides Courtland Sutton, they should be able to establish a well-balanced and efficient offense.

The Titans, on the other hand, have more questions than answers.

Their offensive line is solid, and Ward is a promising player, but he’s a rookie nonetheless.

The wide receivers, led by Calvin Ridley and Tyler Lockett, aren’t young, but they should be able to put up big numbers if Ward, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, gets a grasp of the offense.

The Broncos are 7.5-point favorites for the season opener, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see that number get a little higher closer to kickoff.
