Arsenal Women are reportedly eyeing Swiss international midfielder Geraldine Reuteler as the Women’s Super League (WSL) summer transfer window heads into its final days, closing at 23:00 BST on Thursday, September 4.
The 26-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt star has emerged as a key target for the Gunners, who are looking to strengthen their squad following a trophy-laden 2024/25 campaign, which included their historic UEFA Women’s Champions League triumph in May.
According to Arsenal Women expert Tim Stillman on Arseblog News, negotiations are underway to bring the versatile midfielder to north London. The potential signing would mark another ambitious move by head coach Renee Slegers, who has already overseen the world-record £1 million signing of Canadian forward Olivia Smith from Liverpool earlier this summer.

Adding Reuteler would provide additional quality and depth in midfield as Arsenal prepare to challenge Chelsea’s domestic dominance while defending their European crown.

Reuteler, born on April 21, 1999, has been a standout performer in the Frauen-Bundesliga since joining Frankfurt in 2018. Prior to that, she impressed with FC Luzern in Switzerland’s Nationalliga A, scoring 28 goals in 43 league appearances. Although her Frankfurt contract, last extended in early 2022, was set to run until June 2024, her availability suggests a move could be imminent.

On the international stage, Reuteler has been a consistent performer for Switzerland, featuring in all three group-stage matches at UEFA Women’s Euro 2022, where she scored the team’s only goal in a 1-1 draw with the Netherlands. She remains a key figure in the national squad heading into Euro 2025.
The Gunners’ pursuit of Reuteler comes as they prepare for the start of the 2025/26 WSL season, though preparations have been hampered by the absence of captain Leah Williamson, who is recovering from a knee procedure. Arsenal’s intent to secure Reuteler signals their ambition to remain competitive across all fronts – the WSL, UEFA Women’s Champions League, and domestic cup competitions.
With the clock ticking on the transfer window, Arsenal will need to act swiftly to finalise a deal. While no official fee has been disclosed, the club’s record-breaking investment in Smith indicates a willingness to spend big to build on their recent success.
