Nottingham Forest are racing against the clock to complete a season-long loan move for Arsenal’s Oleksandr Zinchenko before the summer transfer window closes at 11:00 PM BST, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.
The East Midlands club have submitted a deal sheet, allowing them extra time to finalise paperwork beyond the 7:00PM deadline. The extension gives Forest until 9:00PM to secure the transfer of the 28-year-old Ukraine international, who has already agreed personal terms.

Forest’s move for Zinchenko comes after their deadline-day pursuit of Atlético Madrid full-back Javi Galán collapsed. Arsenal, meanwhile, are open to a loan exit for Zinchenko, who has struggled for consistent minutes under Mikel Arteta. The former Manchester City defender has made just 23 appearances across all competitions this season, with his current contract entering its final year.

Signed from City in 2022 for £30 million, Zinchenko has endured a frustrating spell at the Emirates despite his strong debut season. Earlier this summer, Marseille had also explored a deal, but Forest have now emerged as frontrunners to land the versatile left-back.

Zinchenko’s arrival would add experience and flexibility to Nuno Espírito Santo’s squad. A four-time Premier League winner, he is comfortable at left-back and in central midfield, and has won 68 caps for Ukraine, featuring at three European Championships.
The deal would continue an ambitious summer for Forest, who are also closing in on Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz in a loan move with a €30 million buy clause. Zinchenko’s potential signing underlines the club’s determination to strengthen ahead of a demanding Premier League campaign.
With the deadline looming, Forest are working at pace to complete the paperwork. Should the move be finalised, Zinchenko is expected to join up with his new teammates immediately and could soon make his debut at the City Ground.
