The [move was agreed](https://www.arsenal.com/news/reiss-nelson-joins-brentford-loan-0) after a late breakthrough in negotiations, with Brentford stepping in at the end of a drawn-out transfer saga that had seen him strongly linked with **Fulham** and **Ipswich Town**.
No purchase option has been disclosed (yet), but the move provides Brentford with attacking depth on the same day they sanctioned the sale of **Yoane Wissa** to **Newcastle United** for a deal worth up to £55 million.
Despite extending his contract in 2023, Nelson’s opportunities remained limited. He made only one Premier League start in 2023-24 and has 61 league appearances for Arsenal, five goals and three assists, the majority from the bench.
At 25, he now heads to Brentford looking for the consistent playing time he cannot secure in north London. He will have one year remaining on his contract at the end of the season.
