Confirmed: Reiss Nelson joins Brentford on loan

Brentford have confirmed the arrival of Reiss Nelson on a season-long loan and will have an option to buy the winger next summer.

The 25-year-old moves to the Community Stadium to help fill the void left by Bryan Mbeumo’s considerable arse switch to Manchester United and Yoane Wissa’s move to Newcastle United.

Nelson also had interest from Fulham, where he spent last season, and Crystal Palace, while Besiktas and Villarreal were also in contact.

The winger’s stint at Craven Cottage was his third loan spell since breaking into the Arsenal first team under Arsene Wenger.

He has also enjoyed productive periods at Hoffenheim and Feyenoord, but regular football has remained out of reach whenever he’s returned to North London.

Injuries have really hampered Nelson in recent seasons, so here’s hoping he stays fit. The Gunners will be hoping he makes a decent impact with the Bees, with one eye on cashing in next summer.

Best of luck to him in West London.
